New Year's Day Service 01/01/2024 (WE.109)

Happy New Year, Dharma Friends!

We hope you are having a great beginning of the new year.

 

Last Monday 1st January, 

We gathered in our dharma hall for our very first service of the New Year.

2024 is 109 Won Buddhist Era.

As WE 109 is the embark of the 4th Generation of the Order of Won-Buddhism, it was even more meaningful to us. 

 

We began with meditation and the prayer for the New Year

and greeted each other. 

 

Inmyung Kyomunim shared the Prime Dharma master's New Year's Dharma message- "Let's Live as awakened saints". 

Through his message, the Prime Dharma Master Jeonsan encouraged us to practice our dharma according to the 9 articles of the Essential Dharmas of Daily Practice for us to live as awakened buddhas and sages. 

 

 

Son Kwang (원선광) shared his dharma talk referring to the scriptures of the founding master Soetaesan.  He cheered us with thoughtful words to progress together in the new year. 

 

Then,

Sue shared her New Year's resolution. Her words made us think more deeply about what we want for our new year. 

 

We thought about our wishes, hopes, and resolutions for 2024, wrote them on a small piece of paper , and hung it under the balloon.  Then, We set our minds with silent prayer. 

 

 

 

Lastly, Bori played her clarinet for us to celebrate the beginning of the New Year. 

 

 

We took group photos ;) and had Korean Lunch (bibimbop and watermelon hwa chae) together. 

We hope to see you more often in the dharma hall this year!
