New Year Celebration – 108 (2023) – 1st January 2023

Dear all Dharma friends

We hope that you are all keeping safe and well, and enjoying the holiday season.

Here is one of Cardinal Master Chongsan’s sayings :

“Those who live only a life of gratitude will always receive assistance from the Fourfold Grace (The Grace of Heaven and Earth, The Grace of Parents, The Grace of Fellow Beings, The Grace of Laws) ; those who live only a life of resentment will always be harmed, even by worms and insects”

Even though in the new year, we will continue to face difficult times and challenges due to the increasing costs of living and supply shortages, amongst other things, let us make a renewed commitment to live a life of gratitude.

Let us celebrate the New Year with this renewed commitment of gratitude, and revival of our spiritual energy to cultivate and sustain our mind.

Spring is in full swing, and all plant life is blooming !

In our garden at the Temple, fruit trees (persimmon, mulberry, and bipa) are no exception.

What a great opportunity to make tea with the leaves of these fruits, which has many health benefits.

Persimmon is rich in Vitamin C, and helps against headache, cold, stroke, dementia, and lowering blood pressure and blood sugar. Mulberry assists in lowering blood pressure, and preventing stroke and diabetes. Bipa is good for your gut and circulation.

So, we would like to invite you to Making Tea Day on 23rd October, at 11am (after the meditation class).

Thanksgiving Day with Music – 4th December 2022

Thanksgiving Day with Music – 4th December 2022

Dear all friends

Won Buddhism teaches that we can find gratitude in everyday life and live with a sense of gratitude for everything – good and bad.

Even though this year has been difficult for many due to Covid, it is important to remember that there are still many things to be grateful for.

Actually, the difficulties that we experienced have enhanced our gratitude and appreciation of things that we take for granted, particularly our dear family and friends, and remembering our loved ones who have passed away.

Let us express this gratitude on Thanksgiving Day with music.

We welcome you to share your musical talent, so let us know if you can sing or play an instrument on the day.

The program will also include chanting, variety of meditation, and Dharma talk.

You can bring food that you would like to share at lunch with Korean food.

We hope that you can join us.

Date : 4th December 2022 (Sunday)
